Vietnam Dream

Just a quick update to say that we are now in Vietnam for 3 weeks. We made it safe and sound and it is fantastic.
We are currently in Mui Ne on the South China Sea and it is beautiful. Super tropical with beautiful hibiscus flowers everywhere and palm trees and fresh fruit. It is warm, like 93 degrees but not that humid. It is also super windy, this is a kiteboarding destination, so that makes it not so warm.
Mui Ne does not feel like vietnam because there are tons of europeans here. It weird and cool to be around so many european/non-asian people. There are great restaurants with cheap seafood and beer and nice beach side bars. The place we are staying is great. www.sunshine-beach.com Unlike beach resorts in myanmar it has electricity all the time and is new and super clean. It has a fan and a little deck and a nice bathroom. It has a great breakfast where you can pretty much order whatever you want and that is part of the $27/night charge. Today I had french toast with bananas that was superb. I haven't had that since august : ) Andrew had a shaved pork sandwich with tomatoes, lettuce and mayonnaise on a french baguette that he enjoyed (you can definitely see the french influence in the good bread).
Tomorrow I start my kiteboarding lessons and i am excited about that. There are a lot of people learning to kiteboard here, so that makes me feel better and not so nervous. It is a very friendly scene here and not too intense as far as competitiveness goes so that is nice too. We haven't been able to make our laptop access the wifi in our room, so I am at an internet cafe today. Hopefully we will figure that out, so I can update our blog more often, otherwise it may have to wait awhile.
Other than that, its nice to be on vacation. You guys would love Vietnam. It is beautiful, warm, tropical and has great food. At least that is my experience so far. We flew into Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and then had a car pick us up to take us to Mui Ne. In Ho Chi Minh, I have never seen more motorbikes in my life. It was crazy! In a city of 8 million people, there are 4 million motorbikes. When we were riding in the car that picked us up, you felt like you were in the middle of a parade because there were so many motobikes surrounding you. I don't know how traffic functions, but apparently it does somehow. There seems to be little or no traffic rules besides honk if you want the right away. Very Strange but cool. Can't say that i would like to ride a motorbike yet though, maybe in a less crazy city.
Ok, this is all for now. Just wanted to give a quick update more to come later. We'll stay cool in Vietnam, you guys stay cool in Wisconsin and other wintery climates.
